We welcome submissions of canine friendly events to our calendar. We post community and nonprofit events at no charge. If your canine related business is having an event, workshop, class, etc. and you would like to be listed on our calendar page, we will be happy to include your event for a $15 fee. The Dog Jam Paddle & Surf Show

Info:	Who's the Best in Saltwater Show? The DogJam Surf and Paddle Show will feature local celebrity judges, as well as local surf dogs such as Tugboat, “Duke” Kahanamoku, Corgy Carroll, and Micky “Da Cat Named Dog” Dora who will be competing for maximum scores in fun categories such as, most obedient, least obedient, best mirror image (dog/handle look alike), and most original costume, and of course Best in Show to name but a few. Boards and paddles will be available, and doggie life vests will be provided by West Marine. Entry forms are available here and at Freeline Surf Shop, 821 41st Ave, Santa Cruz, CA, 95062. Dog Days of Summer 2010

Info:	During hurricane Katrina, the Santa Cruz SPCA conducted the fifth largest airlift in the nation, “Operation Just Paws”, rescuing nearly 200 dogs and cats. This event will honor the people who stepped in to help animals left homeless after the disaster and showcase the brave dogs that survived the ordeal and now thrive in new homes. “Dog Days of Summer” will be a dog-filled fun day with many local vendors, a dog-a-thon walk, Katrina survivor parade, agility course, scent tracking demonstration, pet physic, fashion show, raffle, food, and much, much more! This fundraiser will benefit the SPCA and their ongoing efforts to provide the best possible quality life for animals.

HYATT “PAWS FOR A CAUSE” TO BENEFIT SPCA

Info:	The Hyatt Regency Monterey’s annual “Paws for a Cause” event benefitting the SPCA will be held every Thursday of the month from May through September. Paws for a Cause encourages locals and hotel guests to come by with their dogs and dine in the Fireplace Lounge Patio from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. 15% of beverage and food sales will be donated to the SPCA, and adoptable dogs will be on display every fourth Thursday of the month.

Info:	Aside from the some of the most innovative year–round dog events in the Bay Area, the 'lime green machine' (with Mad Dog at the wheel) is now taking dog lovers on exciting excursions with their pooches to dog-friendly destinations! As always our ongoing group dog walks known as Bark in the Dark and Weekend Dog Walks are free to Pre–Furred Members & Basic Members and offer a great way for you and your dog to get exercise, socialize and meet new friends...as well as establish good behavior traits in a safe environment! Most special events and bus rides are available to both Pre–Furred Members of the Society Dog ® Pack and to Basic Members alike. 'Pre–Furred Members', however, will receive advance notice and special member prices at events as well as many other special benefits. The goal of Society Dog is to promote the socialization of dogs and create a community of dog lovers that enjoy unusually fun events with their pets. Society Dog's goal is to expand throughout the Bay Area and exceed their now 1,000 person membership as they bring together the camaraderie and group power that comes when people share the love of dogs. Society Dog’s first priority has been establishing 'Packs'in surrounding communities and providing them with both the virtual and hands-on support they need.
