Happy wags! Today, after a run on the beach, we took my sandy paws to the patio at Sanderlings Restaurant in Seascape Resort so my 2-legged friends could munch some brunch.

A spectacular view of Monterey Bay stretches out and there is plenty for me to watch: squirrels performing aerial acrobatics in the distant trees, seagulls soaring, and plenty of pooches pass us on their way to the beach. My pet people miss all this excitement and are focused only on the menu, drinks and food.

My “peeps” love to relax here on the patio while they enjoy a mimosa (from the full bar) and the staff instinctively knows that, after a salty run on the beach, a pooch would like a nice bowl of fresh water. Spring and autumn are the best times for brunch, unless you wait for the fog to burn off around noon during summer. All year, no matter the weather temp, we keep toasty warm under the patio heaters.

The weekend brunch menu includes Portabella frittata, fresh salmon benedict, a breakfast pizza with smoked salmon and crème fraiche... my people rave about it and lick their plates clean, leaving nothing to share with me. The lunch menu offers a burger, a Reuben, yummy-smelling clam chowder, and seared shrimp pasta with lemon-parmesan cheese.

There are also some really interesting salads - pairing poached pears, blue cheese and candied walnuts over mixed greens… or a salad of roasted golden beets, goat cheese over arugala and endive.

During the summer, we go to Sanderlings to watch the sun set into the ocean and enjoy a dinner of seafood from sustainable sources: calamari, lobster thermidor, scallops, halibut, California seabass, and seared ahi. They also offer steak, lamb, rosemary-garlic chicken and vegetarian lasagna.

Sometimes, we go to Sanderlings just for the desserts. My two-legged friends have a hard time choosing between a walnut brownie sundae, a Meyer lemon tart, crème Brulee, or a caramelized banana split. Their solution: invite some of my puppy pals and their people to share the desserts to have a taste of each.

I give Sanderlings four paws: one for the speed they brought me a water bowl, one for the awesome view, and two paws for how happy it made my two-legged friends.

Check the Sanderlings’ website for $6.95 weekday lunch specials and neighbor nights specials.

Woof, Woof!
